Top Things to Do in Jupiter/North Palm Beach from September through December

From exotic fruits to surfing to al fresco food festivals, these select months are a great time to experience Jupiter.

US Travel News claims that fall season heading into winter is one of the best time to visit Jupiter. This is the time when the heat and humidity of the summer begin to fade and the locals emerge from the safety of their air conditioning to once again take advantage of Florida’s natural beauty. From exotic fruits to surfing to al fresco food festivals, the residents and guests of this city know how to make the most of the 80-degree days and pleasant breezes.

Activities & Attractions

Hang Ten

Florida’s Atlantic coast is known for its good surf year-round, but the pros know the best time to hit the waves is in the fall. That’s the time when tropical storms hundreds of miles away hurtle massive waves against the coast, even on the mildest of days. If you’re a seasoned waterman, rent a board at Ocean Magic Surf Shop; if not, sign up for a lesson at Locals Surf Shop – both conveniently located in Jupiter.

Jupiter's exotic fruit

Eat Something Exotic

Florida’s subtropical climate is perfect for growing exotic fruits. Jupiter’s farmers’ markets are full of lychee and jaboticaba from small independent growers, but for the freshest flavors, you are better off just picking it yourself by appointment at Jupiter Farms. From September to December, you can pick passion fruit as well as longan (which is a milky fruit similar to a lychee) and mamey sapote, a nutrient-rich melon that is shaped like a mango but usually weighs a whopping pound. The mamey’s flavor lies somewhere between the tartness of a cherry, the sweetness of an apricot, and the warmth of pumpkin.

Hit the Green

Jupiter has been branded by Golf.com as the “golf-pro capital of the world” with 35 pros living in town year-round such as Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, and Jack Nicklaus. The PGA season begins to ramp up in the fall, bringing even more pros to the area to compete and practice making it the perfect time to hit the green – we suggest Abacoa Golf Club or Jupiter Dunes – and possibly rub elbows with some of the sport’s greatest players.

Florida Shark Diving

Meet a Shark

Florida has more species of shark than any other location in the US. With Florida Shark Diving, a world-class shark diving charter out of Jupiter, you can get up close and personal with Florida’s seven common shark species as well as the black tip shark which is only in the area during its annual fall migration. While these five-foot long, 150-pound predators may seem intimidating, their timid demeanors tend to keep them at a respectful distance from humans.

Festivals & Events

Fright Nights, 10/10–11/2

This haunted adventure spans across the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach and is considered one of the scariest in the state. These frights aren’t your usual haunted house. Each section has a carefully planned out storyline that actors portray, such as a witch-hunt where the crowd gets caught in the crossfire of the town’s hysteria.

Feast of Little Italy, 11/1–3

The Abacoa Town Center comes alive for this weekend of cooking demonstrations, wine seminars, live music, and a bocce pavilion as well as plenty of great Italian eats.
