Down the Aisle, By the Sea

Relax, drink in the panoramic bay view, and let your bespoke Maine wedding weekend begin. Check in to your resort suite where you’ll spend your last night before your walk down the aisle. Following a ceremony rehearsal, treat your wedding party to a taste of true Downeast Maine with a traditional lobster bake at the oceanfront Bar Harbor Club. Raise a glass to those who have traveled far and wide to be by your side, and top off your meal with a slice of quintessentially-Maine, homemade blueberry pie. From here, you’ll board a historic windjammer for a breathtaking sunset cruise around Frenchman Bay.

Rise with the sun and begin your day with a relaxing stroll along the picturesque Bar Harbor Shore Path, or, for the ever-ambitious couple, treat your wedding party to the East Coast’s first glimpse of the sun from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia.

Check in to the Club

After, head to your getting ready room – included in our wedding packages as your private retreat for your first night as a married couple – where preparations will begin. A separate groom’s room in the Pool House may also be reserved at an additional charge.

After settling into your room, head to The Spa at Bar Harbor Club to treat yourself to a facial, manicure, and pedicure so that you can put your best foot forward on your walk down the aisle. Or, if you prefer, get in a round of golf, take a bicycle tour of Acadia, or simply relax by the resort pool.

With a picture-perfect backdrop around every corner, it’s hard to decide where to take your “first look” photos. Perhaps alongside sparkling Frenchman Bay with the setting sun at your backs, in front of the iconic lobster buoys at the marina, or overlooking the gardens bursting with the season’s most brilliant colors. As the sun dips low and golden hour begins, it will be time to exchange your vows on the manicured ceremony lawn before toasting your union over cocktails on the patio of The Bar Harbor Club, with sweeping views of Frenchman Bay.

Following a sumptuous plated dinner in the iconic Stotesbury Ballroom, your band or DJ will take to the stage and treat your guests to a party they won’t soon forget. Dance the night away alongside panoramic ocean vistas as laughter rises to the rafters. Not ready for your magical day to end? Bar Harbor’s quaint yet vibrant downtown is just steps away, beckoning you and your party to continue the celebration.

Before you say your goodbyes, join your guests for an alfresco breakfast on The Bar Harbor Club patio featuring traditional favorites and local indulgences, such as made-to-order lobster omelets and cast iron–griddled french toast with Maine maple syrup.

Once your guests have departed, it’s time to relax, wind down, and take in everything Bar Harbor has to offer. Explore the historic carriage roads of Acadia National Park, hike one of the park’s 26 peaks, or spend an afternoon on the water on one of The Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co.’s signature cruises. Or, if a day of leisure is more your style, settle into a lounge chair alongside the hotel pool to experience for yourself what all your guests were raving about the day before.
