About the Resort
Sunset Key Cottages is located on Sunset Key, a private 27-acre island just off Key West, Florida. The island is only a short ferry ride from Old Town Key West and offers a secluded luxury resort experience surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico.
Sunset Key Cottages combines the privacy of a tropical island escape with the convenience of being minutes from Key West. Guests enjoy luxury cottages, a private beach, waterfront dining, and a quieter, more exclusive atmosphere than most Key West resorts.
Getting Here & Transportation
Guests arrive via a private ferry from Key West. The ferry departs from the Marina at Opal Key Resort, near Mallory Square in Old Town Key West. The ferry ride takes approximately 7 minutes and operates regularly throughout the day and evening.
The ferry leaves Opal Key at the 15- and 45-minute mark of every hour from 6:45am to 10:45pm. It leaves Sunset Key’s dock on the hour and half hour (after 11pm the boat runs by request).
The ferry departs from the Opal Key Resort & Marina dock area near Mallory Square in Old Town Key West.
Yes, ferry transportation between Key West and Sunset Key is included for registered resort guests.
Yes, parking options are available at Opal Key Resort before boarding the ferry. Guests are welcome to self-park at the resort’s parking garage for $30 per night per vehicle, or valet at the entrance of Opal Key for $40 per night per vehicle.
Accommodations
Sunset Key offers luxury one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom cottages designed with spacious residential-style layouts and island-inspired décor.
Availability for one-bedroom cottages is limited throughout the year.
Larger cottages offer additional bedrooms, expanded living spaces, and enhanced privacy for families and groups. Cottage locations and views also vary by category. Please visit our resort map for more info.
Yes, all cottages have kitchenettes with essential kitchenware & appliances, making Sunset Key ideal for extended stays, family travel, and guests seeking a more residential resort experience. Guests can also pre-order groceries by filling out the grocery form linked on the bottom of this page.
We offer dry cleaning services on property during the week (please note that we don’t offer dry cleaning services on holidays and weekends).

Sunset Key is home to Latitudes, a waterfront dining destination known for fresh coastal cuisine and sunset views overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Latitudes offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests can also enjoy Flipper’s Pool Bar for lunch.
Yes, reservations are strongly recommended for resort guests, especially during weekends and peak travel seasons. Our concierge staff can arrange these reservations for you through emailing [email protected].

Policies & Fees
Check-in begins at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Resort guests are welcome to arrive to the island at any time upon check-in day. We have shower and storage facilities available for use until the cottage is ready. For late check-out requests, we ask that guests confirm the possibility with our front desk associates one day prior to departure.
