Location
Sunset Key Cottages is located on a private island off the coast of Key West, a 7-minute boat ride from our sister property, Opal Key. This idyllic escape consists of 40 private cottages along manicured pathways from the building, the Spa at Sunset Key, Flipper’s Poolside Tiki Bar, and Latitudes.
Sunset Key Cottages offers unique one, two, three, and four bedroom cottages with garden, partial ocean, and ocean front views. Garden Views include patios overlooking the foliage, Partial Ocean Views overlook the land to the beach, and Ocean Front cottages overlook the ocean (some overlook the beach as well). Amenities
The resort fee includes boat transportation to and from the resort, nightly turndown service, a daily Rise and Dine Breakfast Basket as well as a variety of other services. Click here for a complete list of what’s included.

In addition to Key West’s fantastic fishing, snorkeling and water sports, there are so many family activities on Sunset Key – from a game on our half basketball courts to jet ski tours in the Florida Keys. Looking for inspiration? Our hotel concierge is happy to make arrangements for family fun on your next Florida family vacation.
While there aren’t grocery stores on the island, we offer a grocery shopping service! Just email or fax us the list linked in your pre-arrival email 48 hours prior to arrival and we’ll have your cottage stocked and ready for you when you land. If you have further questions, please give our concierge a call or email and they’ll be happy to walk you through the process!
We offer dry cleaning services on property during the week (please note that we don’t offer dry cleaning services on holidays and weekends).
Yes, daily housekeeping is available. To request a specific time, please call the front desk or text us.

Yes, we charge an extra person fee of $100 per adult.

Sunset Key’s cancellation policy varies based on stay date and rate type (for instance an Advance Purchase rate has a stricter cancellation policy than most rates). Our deposit and standard cancellation policies are listed here.
Check into our Florida Keys resort is at 4pm and check out is at 11am. Our front desk is staffed 24/7.
Sunset Key Cottages does not have rollaways, but cribs and pack and plays are available based on availability.

Purchase an OPAL gift card or amenity here, in the links in our footer. Or contact the reservations department at least 24 hours prior to arrival to pay for all or part of a guest’s stay. Our staff will be happy to send you a Sertifi link so that you can submit your payment information securely and electronically.

Absolutely. When you book direct, any changes or cancellations are handled quickly and personally by our hotel team or our dedicated Opal Collection reservations team – no middleman, no hassle. With OTA reservations, adjustments have to go through large centralized call centers that manage thousands of properties, which often means longer wait times and less flexibility.
When booking online, always pay attention to the search results – and be on the lookout for scammy imitation sponsored ads from OTAs. Make sure the link points to the hotel’s official domain (opalcollection.com/sunset-key-cottages) or booking engine (reservations.opalcollection.com/sunset-key-cottages), not a third-party site.
