Meeting Experiences to Explore
Compete in a Build-a-Bike Challenge
Presented by the Build-a-Bike organization and accessible across North America for groups of any size, this bike-building team activity isn’t just a great way to benefit the Sarasota Boys & Girls Club, it’s a fun way to bring a little friendly competition to your meeting. How it works: Teams compete to win components of a bicycle. Once a group collects all the parts, it’s time to assemble. However, the unique twist lies in the fact that no single group can independently finish a bike; collaboration with other teams is essential, underscoring the value of effective communication and teamwork.
Help Move Meals to Those Who Need It Most
While Sarasota is known for its affluent lifestyle and beach setting, hundreds of homebound seniors and veterans are unable to prepare nutritious meals and face the inevitability of needing to relocate to an assisted living facility sooner. Groups can work with Meals on Wheels of Sarasota, engaging in a day of volunteer work that involves tasks such as meal preparation, packaging, and delivery. By doing so, you help these individuals maintain their independence, while also providing some much-needed social connection.
Dive into Endless On-Site Sports Options
With 45 holes of championship golf, 20 Har-Tru tennis courts, eight pickleball-dedicated courts, and fishing charters that pick up right from our marina, The Resort at Longboat Key Club’s on-site sports options to shape a group experience are endless. Choose from golf tournaments, tennis or pickleball clinics, even glow-in-the-dark putt putt and get ready to get your blood pumping and the competitive juices flowing.
Set Up a Seaside Showdown with Beach Olympics
Select from the resort’s vast menu of team-building activities to build your own multi-event beach Olympics. Options include glow-in-the-dark volleyball, charity bike runs, scavenger hunts, boat building, trivia nights, and much more. Whether your group is interested in an intense physical challenge, a laid-back game of wits, or anything in between, we can provide an activity designed to create cohesive cooperation, bonding, and fun.
Build a Float-Worthy Vessel
Arranged and managed by Sarasota-based SRQ Services, the build-a-raft competition is a creative way to ignite your teams’ competitive and collaborative fires. Consisting of about 10 participants each, teams must build their own makeshift rafts, using only the materials provided: PVC pipes, tarps, inner tubes, float rings, pool noodles, and more. Teams then race their vessels (either in the ocean or in the pool) to see who sinks and who floats.
Become a Turtle Advocate
The picturesque sandy expanses of Longboat Key become a crucial nesting ground for mother turtles from May through October. Engage your group in an evening beach cleanup, involving the dismantling of sandcastles (which can be obstacles) and the removal of any litter. Additionally, participants are encouraged to report any key findings, such as nests or turtle tracks, to support local researchers in their conservation efforts. They can also assist Mote Marine Aquarium volunteers during early morning “Turtle Trots,” which include scouring, logging, and marking new nests, plus searching for lost hatchlings.
Learn How to Make a Living Green Wall
It’s perhaps the open-and-airy lobby’s most notable touch: the billboard-size living green wall that greets guests upon check-in at The Resort at Longboat Key Club. Not only is this design feature intended to be eye-catching, but this dense cluster of plants helps to purify the air, reduce ambient temperature, and create a sense of well-being (known as biophilic design). Groups can arrange with the resort to have a session with the green wall’s creator to learn more about how to build one, maintain it, and the general benefits of having biophilia in your space.
Zen Out with Yoga on the Beach
Groups discover tranquility by the shore during the resort’s beach yoga sessions that aim to unwind, stretch, and promote inner peace while surrounded by the calming rhythm of the waves. There’s no better way to enhance your meeting experience than by setting a positive tone for the day while improving well-being and camaraderie.
Experience the Spa’s Vibro-Acoustic Beds
All Opal Spas are home to zero-gravity Oakwork Britta beds featuring built-in vibrational and sound therapy systems that soothe the senses and lull the body into deep relaxation. And groups can test drive and experience the benefits of these cutting-edge custom-designed treatment tables in the Opal Spa at The Resort at Longboat Key Club.
Float Away in a Sound Bath
Sarasota-based Mystical Oasis Sound Healing Studio can organize private group sound bath experiences in-studio or on-location at the resort. So what exactly is a sound bath? It’s a meditative experience where individuals are “bathed” in sound waves produced by various sources, including gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself. Surrender to the sounds to release blockages, while creating a profound sense of peace.
Packages
The Resort at Longboat Key offers customizable packages for corporate and group golf outings, and our resort team can accommodate any type of tournament or event desired for groups of all sizes.
