Wentworth by the Sea is the crown jewel of the island of New Castle, a historic settlement located just 15 minutes from downtown Portsmouth. The expansive, elegant resort features two pools, an on-property spa and fitness center, clay tennis courts, and gardens built for exploring. Avid sailors can arrive at the resort via boat to Safe Harbor, the private marina operated steps from our resort. Leisure charters and fly-fishing excursions are also available to book through the marina.

Nature trails abound in the region surrounding Portsmouth. Odiorne Point State Park, Fort Foster, and Cutts Island all offer trails suitable for all levels of hikers.

Look no further for entertainment than downtown Portsmouth, which houses the Seacoast Repertory Theatre and Portsmouth Music Hall, both of which feature live shows all year round. For families, the Seacoast Science Center and Children’s Museum of New Hampshire are excellent places to spend a day.

If you’re up for a scenic drive, Ski Bradford and Gunstock Mountain Resort are both favorite winter destinations. Gunstock also remains open through the summer, offering a zipline course, adventure park, and aerial treetop adventures.
